Common safety tips at a glance. A great resource to print out for families to accompany the education session.
Safety At Home
- Store household cleaning products and medications up and away or in a locked drawer or cabinet to prevent poisoning
- Save the poison control center number in your phone: 1-800-222-1222
- Never leave your child unattended during bathroom- you should be within an arm's reach at all times
- Keep hot foods and beverages away from the edge of counters
- Separate toys by age and keep little games pieces out of reach of young children
- Install gates at top and bottom of stairs
Kids and Cars
- Walk all the away around your parked car to check for children
- Prevent heatstroke by never leaving your child alone in the car
- Slow down and avoid distractions when driving, especially in neighborhoods
- Keep car doors and trunks locked and keep keys out of reach
Pedestrian and Bike
- Look left, right and left again before crossing the street
- Make eye contact with drivers when crossing the street
- Put phone and headphones down when crossing the street
- Wear a properly fitting helmet when biking, skateboarding, riding a scooter or in-line skating
